How does massage on the abdomen aid digestion?

This is one of the possible questions for the practical Itec for holistic massage, and I think it is because it fastens peristalsis, but not sure.
Help!!!

There is a chinese massage called Chi Nei Tsang. It is internal organ massage. Among the easiest good effect that it has is to help bowel movement. This is done in two different ways. The first is, by inserting a sort of wave like movement (it’s hard to explain when you are with someone, on a text is impossible, so please bear with me) in the abdomen. This have to be done in a very soft way. As if it’s done badly in can make the abdomen contract. But this does push the stools out, along the large intestine.

The second, and most important reason why this kind of massage is good for digestion has to do with releasing tension in the internal organ. Have you noticed how when you relax you often have a bowel movement. Well, a lot of tension is stored in the internal organs. If you can release that tension this will help with digestion. If you need to mention only one cause I would go for this!

Also, it is very common and good for a person to have a chi nei tsang massage while doing a colonic cleansing. This way you feel how far the water has gone, you feel where the blockages are, and by massaging you release the spot where the blockages are.

A final element is that by releasing and healing the internal organs that can stimulate them in “working well”. So, no you are not pushing the liver to release the bile, but by massaging the liver it has the effect of making it work better, which among various effects will secrete the bile.

This is about Chi Nei Tsang. There might be other forms of massage to the abdomen, but I am not aware of them.
