I am thankful to have health insurance through my wife’s employers health insurance company. The coverage has been perfect for the cost and coverage. So far they have been great in paying they few claims we have made.

Last year early December I was decorating our house as I have for the past 15 years for Christmas. Climbing up and down the attic retrieving ornaments and lights. I was on my way up the final time and my foot slipped and down I came with a terrible crash. The fall broke my collar bone and fractured my hip. My wife was in horror as I lay there all busted up.

After several months of surgery and some minor therapy I was getting back into the swing of things. Well by know I was starting to feel normal but I was getting some constant pain in my back. I know I was sore but It was kind off getting worse. I took some ex-rays and found that I had ruptured a few disks in my lower back during the fall. I tried everything from massages, acupuncture, going to a chiropractor and more therapy.

I am very grateful and lucky that the insurance company is paying for everything and that’s why we have the coverage. This is becoming so bad it’s keeping me from making a living I am now on every medication for pain known in the book including a massive dose of medication for depression.

Here is what I am faced with. It has been confirmed that I need surgery and need it now, from two of the best back surgeons in town. I have spent months on end trying to get the insurance company to help and they are firm on denying the claim. They call it…not medically necessary and they don’t have to cover it.

I keep wasting away as time goes by. Everything including my marriage is starting to collapse. I am so jacked up with the necessary medications and yet I am still in severe pain all day long. The trouble I am having is that between all my tests, therapy and the thousands of dollars on prescriptions at a cost far more expensive and ongoing then what the surgery would cost. How more blatant an attempt at prophet can you get! They have the right to do it but that is whats wrong and unethical.
